Richard is the new Head Coach and Centre Manager of the North Shore Tennis Centre. He comes to us with 15years coaching experience from juniors & schools to full-time players & adults. He believes in developing a sound technical base, while nurturing a positive learning environment for all his players. Backed by his range of experiences, qualifications & friendly nature, Richard will always help with any of your tennis goals!

Jedi has been honoured by Tennis Gear with the Coach of the Year award consecutively in 2022 and 2023, attesting to his exceptional coaching prowess. With a coaching tenure spanning 15 years, a decade of which was dedicated to coaching school children in Beijing, China, Coach Jedi has acquired extensive experience in tennis education.

Employing a holistic coaching approach, Coach Jedi goes beyond imparting on-court skills, emphasizing the importance of off-court elements such as rest and nutrition. He subscribes to the belief that an athlete’s performance on the court represents merely the visible aspect of their endeavours, with the unseen efforts exerted day in and day out, both on and off the tennis court.

Coach Jedi’s coaching expertise extends beyond the realm of tennis, having successfully guided professional athletes in sports nutrition. Some of his proteges have achieved notable feats, including Guinness World Record Holder status, championships in Natural Bodybuilding Australia, and triumphs in International Adventure Racing and triathlon competitions. In recognition of his expertise, Coach Jedi has been invited to serve as a resource person in sports nutrition at events in Brisbane and the Gold Coast scheduled for 2024.

Todd joined the TennisGear team in late 2022 starting as a pro shop member across various centres. I began playing at the age of 6 and still play and follow the tennis circuit. With 5 years as a ballkid at the Aus open, brisbane international, fed cup and davis cup, I have learned a few things about catering to the specific needs of the world’s top players and hope that I can translate my ballkid experience into delivering excellent customer service to the specific needs of the individual customer.

I am very enthusiastic to start and get involved with TennisGear and its community and believe in encouraging a tennis community where people feel confident and welcomed to explore the amazing choices that TennisGear have to offer.

Andrew joined the Tennis Gear team in mid-2023 in the Emerson Centre pro shop. Starting tennis at the age three and continued through high school, he developed a love for the sport and now indulges in regular social play. Andrew’s background in tennis allows him to help with a broad range of tennis questions and queries. His main goal is to help TennisGear foster tennis development and enjoyment for all players alike.

I joined the TennisGear team in early 2024, seizing the perfect opportunity to deepen my tennis knowledge and assist others in discovering this fantastic sport. Currently studying engineering at UQ, I aim to apply my problem solving skills to help individuals tackle any challenges they encounter. With a lifelong passion for tennis, I am eager to contribute to the TennisGear team.

With over 25 years in tennis, Damien combines professional playing experience with senior coaching leadership. A former ATP player ranked 270 in the world, he also worked as a National Coach with the Lawn Tennis Association. His time in high-performance and international environments has shaped his standards, discipline, and leadership style.

Damien leads the coaching and retail business with a strong focus on facility operations, programme delivery, commercial growth, and customer experience. He is passionate about creating a positive, well-organised environment where players of all ages and abilities can learn, compete, and enjoy tennis.

He enjoys building strong teams, creating clear player pathways, and delivering programmes that support both participation and performance. Developing a positive team culture and seeing the community connect through tennis is what drives him each day.

Above all, Damien is committed to growing the game locally and making TennisGear a welcoming place where everyone can enjoy tennis and be part of the community.

Mark is the owner and operator of Tennis Gear, a tennis centre management team that operates Australia’s largest and most successful tennis centres – Playford City, Shaw Park, Morningside, Nudgee, Northshore Park, and the Roy Emerson Tennis Centres. All centre’s boast premier tennis pro-shops, offering the best customer service and the highest level of tennis equipment knowledge.

Mark has recently served for four years as the President of Tennis Queensland and has also been President of Tennis Brisbane and is a qualified Tennis Australia Development Coach, Mark has proven results in growing the game of tennis and strong business acumen. Mark and his team have a passion for the future of success of tennis and delivering a first-class tennis centre management operation to the tennis community.
